Cities

Nations gather in gateway cities, providing accessible opportunities to take the gospel to the ends of the earth.

Over half of the world’s population resides in cities, which is expected to exceed 66% by 2050 (United Nations World Urbanization Prospects Report, 2014).

Why gateway cities?

Gateway cities are considered strategic for Christian mission because they offer access to diverse least-reached diaspora communities whose connections span back to their countries of origin through relationships and digital connections, making it possible to impact global populations through local gospel engagement.

Over 232 million people currently live away from their home countries, with even larger numbers when including immigrants’ children and those who have migrated internally. We’re responding to this shift by focusing on a new era of missions aimed at reaching the world through global diaspora relationships.

Nearly 40 percent of the world’s population remains unreached by the gospel, with the highest concentration of these peoples in cities. We concentrate our efforts on reaching these neglected urban areas by starting churches and multiplying discipleship movements to transform communities with the gospel.
